This video was recorded on a recent visit to Davao and Gaisano Mall as well as the Bankerohan Public Market. The first displays the big shops how well they market their products in fancy buildings with all their glory and the second how normal small businesses display their goods. I must say, I find the public market much more appealing.

Rodrigo Duterte, mayor of Davao, in Mindanao in the south of the Philippines won the presidential election by getting most votes.
Duterte claims his law-and-order policy is the reason for his victory. We must hope that law and order will spread throughout the Philippines. It would be great if corruption, drugs and gangs would get under control.
We wish to congratulate the mayor of Davao, now president to be a heartfelt congratulation, and wish that his policy on law and order will succeed!
The Philippines is the second largest exporter of pineapples in the world and Mindanao is almost the only area of the Philippines exporting pineapples.
The workers in the Pineapple fields in Mindanao are not treated fairly. They are often just employed as contractual workers with out right to any benefits. No social security and their wages are so low that they cannot even support their own family.
Workers are exposed to pesticides, which detoriate their health.
It is mostly international companies which own or rent or lease the land. There is even suspicion that the authorities and the labour organizations are in the hands of the international companies exporting the pineapples.
